PCDA Strengthens Its Future with Ian Clerihew as National Director of Recruitment & Player Identification!

We’re thrilled to welcome Ian Clerihew as our new National Director of Recruitment & Player Identification!

Ian will play a pivotal role in our expansion plans. In the near term, he’ll spearhead recruitment and player identification for our exciting new academies in Denver and Charlotte, while also supporting our Tennessee location.

Looking ahead, Ian will build a team of Regional Recruitment Directors, laying the groundwork for PCDA’s ambitious goal of expanding into multiple states by 2026.

With Ian’s leadership, we’re confident in our ability to discover and develop the next generation of future student athletes.

Clerihew had this to say about his appointment in such a pivotal role with PCDA. The Pre-College Development Academy aligns very well with what I feel is a missing piece in the player development pathway.  I look forward to getting started right away to make a positive impact.”

Ian brings to PCDA an impressive resume working with collegiate student athletes. An accomplished coach with over two decades of experience developing student-athletes and building championship level teams in NCAA Division 1, 2 &; 3 along with the Houston Dynamo Academy.

Most recently Clerihew was the head coach at the University of St Thomas (TX) where his teams played in 4 straight Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Championships (2020-2023). During this time, he was named the SCAC coach of the year in 2021 and 2022 and the NCAA West Region Coach of the Year in 2022 after a 16-2-3 record and a run to the NCAA Sweet 16.

Clerihew holds a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing from Seattle Pacific University, where as a student-athlete he was a member of the schools’ NCAA Division 2 Men’s Soccer National Championship team. Additionally, he holds a Master of Science in Sports Science and Coaching from the University of Akron.

PCDA CEO and Academy Director Ryan Hodgson goes on to say “PCDA is at a crucial tipping point of growth and we needed someone with Ian’s expertise, connections and passion behind such an important role for the organization. Our mission grows with Ian’s appointment. We want PCDA to be a household name within youth soccer where parents and athletes understand the impact PCDA can have on the development of our student athletes both in the classroom and on the pitch…”
